What about our human rights?
The terrorists are clearly winning, Ask anyone who has flown recently.
Taking your shoes off at airports may seem a small thing, but it is just another infringement on our human rights. How much time have you lost due to heightened security? We are not suggesting for one moment that security measures should be reduced, and certainly not at airports. Let's have a reality check; The grandmother of 84 travelling to Spain is treated the same way as the young student on his way to Pakistan. Recently we all had to throw away any fluids when boarding a plane. The reality is, that our human rights are being eroded away by terrorists. Not by what they have done, but the fear of what they may do. How can we let the majority of people through an airport without hindrance yet make sure that flying is terror free? This is just one issue when considering how our rights are being set aside. We have to watch what we say all the time for fear of upsetting muslims. One recent example; when Harry refered to "the pakis over the hill". Would there have been the same reaction had he said "the aussies over the hill", We unfortunatly have double standards. The fear of creating an us and them situation is driving it. The us and them situation has been around a long time. We (the christians) just didn't want to admit it. Them (the Muslims) have created it and want to blame us. |

Would you subscribe to a register if it meant more freedom and safety?
We can't call someone from Pakistan a Paki but we can call someone from Austrailia an Aussie. We can't select who we search at airports for fear of offending Muslims but it's acceptable when old people stand in queues tired from a long journey. We all want to be able to move freely from country to country, use the underground without being killed. The USA have already introduced a system whereby people entereing the country must register beforehand. Nobody really wants the big brother situation, and there is always the question of weather we can trust governments to handle our data carefully. In the UK it is obvious that the govenment has serious problems with their employees when it comes to data security. Let common sense prevail and allow selective searches at airports. Highly sensitive bomb detection systems exist but are not found at airports due to their high cost. Should we (PeaceAid) fund such units?
